Mike is a founding member and the band’s principle songwriter, set-list maker, and all around art director. He is from the seacoast of NH and lives in Woodstock, NY. He plays the banjo and guitar, and sometimes other things like Casio SK5 or experimental slide guitar.
Ruth Ungar Merenda (2001-present)
Ruth is a founding member who stands in the middle and is the band’s principle singer. She also writes songs and weaves her family-learned fiddle thru the show. She grew up in Woodstock, NY and still lives there, when not in the van.
Konrad Meissner (2010-present)
Konrad played his first show with Mike + Ruthy at the Cornelia St Cafe in NYC and was immediately beloved. His creative rock drumming can be heard on the Bright As You Can and Sunshiner albums, and 99% of current live shows.
Will Bryant (2018-present)
Will is a fierce harmony singer and keyboard player who has recently begun touring with the band. He also plays frequently in his trio The Restless Age. He lives in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Brandon Morrison (2018-present)
Brandon has recently come on board to play bass. He also plays in his trio The Restless Age. He lives in Rosendale, NY.
Ken "the fury" Mauri (2002-present)
Ken was The Mammals first bassist, first drummer, and first keyboard player. He can be heard on every album on one instrument or another. He plays shows when he’s not on tour with The B-52’s and resides in Florence, MA.
Jacob Silver (2006-present)
Jacob Silver’s iconic bass playing can be heard on the Departure, Bright As You Can, and Sunshiner albums as well as some other Mike + Ruthy duo records. He continues to record with the band and appear on occasional gigs when not touring with Joan As Policewoman, Amy Helm, or Lee Fields. He lives in NYC.
Chris Merenda (2005-07)
Chris is Mike’s brother. He joined the band on New Year’s Eve 2005, and toured full time on drums thru some epic years. His gravelly voice and banjo stylings have resurfaced in the Whiskey Treaty Roadshow. Check em out. Chris lives in the woods of western MA with his sweet family.
Tao Rodriguez-Seeger (2001-07)
Tao is a founding member who no longer tours. Yes, his grandpa played the banjo too. Tao strongly influenced the band’s early ballad-bending sound, and enjoyed crafting original banjo tunes and putting them thru effects pedals. He happily resides in Maine with his lovely family.
